The Combined SARS-CoV-2/Influenza A & B/RSV RT-qPCR Kit is a molecular test designed for the direct, qualitative detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, Influenza B, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in human respiratory specimens collected via a nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swab. The assay is a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) that uses fluorescent dye probes specific for the four viruses. This test can distinguish between Influenza A and B but cannot distinguish between RSV A and B; or rule out infection caused by other pathogens. The assay can also detect co-infection between SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A & B and RSV in a single reaction.
The Combined SARS-CoV-2/Influenza A & B/RSV RT-qPCR Kit exhibited over 99.99% sensitivity in correctly classifying SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, Influenza B and RSV in human samples. The specificity of the assay was confirmed against 20 common respiratory pathogens, including but not limited to bocavirus, bordetella, legionella, MERS, and other human coronaviruses. Cross-reactivity was not detected among any of the 20 pathogens tested.

The 4 viruses detected by the Combined SARS-CoV-2/Influenza A & B/RSV RT-qPCR Kit exhibit similar symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, headaches, runny nose) and are transmitted among humans by direct contact with infected individuals or through contaminated objects. People with compromised immune systems and with chronic or pre-existing conditions are at higher risk to be affected more seriously from these pathogens. Fast, accurate and reliable detection is crucial for taking speedy containment measures to prevent the spread of each pathogen.

Symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 may appear from 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Patients with high BMI , diabetes mellitus type 2 and with underlying conditions are more likely to develop severe complications requiring hospitalization.
Influenza viruses belong to the Orthomyxoviridae family. The most common influenza viruses that infect humans are Influenza A and B. Symptoms of Influenza viruses usually appear 1-4 days after exposure. Older people and people with underlying medical conditions (e.g. COPD, IPF, asthma, smokers) are at increased risk for developing complications
Human respiratory syncytial viruses (RSV) belong to the Paramyxoviridae family. RSV causes respiratory infections in humans, including bronchitis, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary infections. RSV infections are particularly common among children younger than 2 years old. Symptoms of RSV viruses usually appear 4-6 days after exposure.
