NIPD Genetics JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS
NIPD Genetics announces the launch of its molecular test using Real-Time PCR (RT-qPCR) methodology for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. In an effort to strengthen the endeavors made by our government and healthcare providers, NIPD Genetics proudly and responsibly joins the fight against the novel coronavirus to help prevent an outbreak which would be catastrophic for our island.
NIPD Genetics COVID-19 molecular test is available for immediate public use. We have set up locations in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Pafos for safe collection and transportation of the samples. Testing for all samples will be performed at our state-of-the-art, CAP accredited and CLIA-certified laboratory, with results being reported within 72 hours. For more information about the test and how you can do the test, please visit www.nipd.com/covid19test or call 22267899.
The World Health Organization (WHO) Director General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said “You cannot fight a fire blindfolded. We cannot stop this pandemic if we don’t know who is infected.” Extraordinary efforts have been achieved until today in testing possible affected cases and tracing all the people they have come into contact with. There is evidence that people could acquire the disease from someone who is asymptomatic, or who only presents mild symptoms. It is vital that you get tested to notify your doctor and get proper medical care if your results are positive, to protect your family members by self-isolating, to continue working and providing essential services if your results are negative, and to help control the spread of the disease by contact tracing.
NIPD Genetics Founder and CEO, Professor Philippos Patsalis, commented “We applaud the efforts from the government and all healthcare providers who have been fighting on the frontlines. Our laboratory uses advanced technology and robotic systems that can safely and quickly process thousands of molecular tests. We consider it our duty to commit our resources and expertise to aid this effort in controlling the spread of COVID-19 in our country.”
